During this first workshopping experience, I took note of a few interesting points. With Kayleigh’s piece, I recall someone mentioning the potential interview opportunities with locals or students on the project discussed. I recognize the importance of the incorporation of all aspects of the who, what, where, and in this case, perhaps the why. I would like to see how thoroughly I have done that in my own work. I also saw this in Phoebe’s work where ensuring the journalist has all of those elements in the lead is vital for the reader to get a scope of the topic at hand. Also in many of the drafts workshopped, I heard many comments regarding the integration of interviews and sources; particularly about gaining information from all perspectives on each matter tackled by the journalists. Moving forward, I will take these bits of advice and apply it to my own feature story, and I hope the writers got something out of it as well.
